Polis for Colorado | Breaking Barriers
In 2008, Jared Polis was the first openly gay man elected as a freshman to U.S. Congress. Ten years later, he became the first openly gay man to be elected as governor of a state in U.S. history. To highlight his historic candidacy, the campaign launched the #BreakBarriersCO campaign. Our #BreakBarriersCO campaign consisted of a digital branding campaign, an endorsement rollout from Hon. Pat Schroeder (the first woman to represent Colorado in Congress), and a large rollout during Denver Pride.
